Selena Marie Gomez born July 22, 1992 is an American actress, singer, and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador who is best known for her contributions in the role of Alex Russo to the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place. She subsequently ventured into feature films and has starred in the television movies Another Cinderella Story, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, and Princess Protection Program and made her theatrical film debut in Ramona and Beezus.
Enhancing her repertoire into the music industry, Gomez is the lead singer for the pop band Selena Gomez & the Scene who, together, have released two studio albums Kiss & Tell and A Year Without Rain. She has also contributed to the soundtracks of Tinker Bell, Another Cinderella Story and Wizards of Waverly Place after signing a record deal with Hollywood Records.

Early life
Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas to Ricardo Gomez and former stage actress Mandy Teefey (née Cornett). Her father is Mexican American and her mother is of half Italian descent. Her birth parents divorced when she was five years old, and she was raised as an only child by her working mother. In 2006, Mandy remarried Brian Teefey. She is named after Tejano singer Selena. In a 2009 interview with People, Gomez mentioned that she developed an early interest in acting from watching her mother prepare for and act in theater productions. She earned a high school diploma through homeschooling in May 2010.

Gomez began her acting career at age seven, playing Gianna on Barney & Friends. She said that she learned "everything" about how to act while on the show. Season 7 of Barney & Friends, when Selena Gomez was on the show, was held up for some time. Because of this, the episodes featuring Gomez did not air until she was in 5th grade. This resulted in some mild controversy/confusion as to whether she was on Barney in the 5th grade or the 1st grade.She later had minor roles in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and the TV film Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire. In 2004, Gomez was discovered by the Disney Channel in a nation wide scouting. Gomez appeared as a guest star on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and had a guest appearance – that later turned into a recurring role – on Hannah Montana from season's two to three. In early 2007 Gomez was cast in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place as one of the three main characters, Alex Russo.
In 2008, Gomez appeared in Another Cinderella Story, the direct-to-DVD sequel to the 2004 Hilary Duff film, opposite Drew Seeley. She also had a minor voiceover role as one the Mayor's ninety-six daughters in Horton Hears a Who! which released in March of that year. In April, Lacey Rose, of Forbes ranked Gomez as being fifth on their "Eight Hot Kid Stars To Watch" list; and Rose described Gomez as having been "a multitalented teen". In June, 2009, Gomez appeared in the made-for-television Disney Channel movie, Princess Protection Program with her then best friend Demi Lovato. On August 28, one month after appearing in Princess Protection Program, Gomez appeared in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, a made-for-television film based on the show.

In 2009, Gomez did a guest appearance as herself in one episode, of Lovato's Disney Channel television show Sonny With a Chance, entitled "Battle of The Network Stars". Gomez, along with two cast members of Wizards of Waverly Place appeared in a television three-way cross-over episode with Hannah Montana and The Suite Life on Deck, entitled Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana. In February 2009, Gomez signed on to star as one of the two female leads in Ramona and Beezus, a film adaption of the children's novel series by Beverly Cleary. In March, 2010, Variety reported that Gomez was set to star as one of the three lead roles in Monte Carlo.

Career
Modeling and acting
Sterger rose to fame after she was shown on national television during a 2005 Florida State–Miami football game. On seeing the shot, announcer Brent Musburger commented that "1,500 red-blooded Americans just decided to apply to Florida State. She was one of the FSU Cowgirls, who are known for their combination of minimal tops, short shorts, and cowboy hats. She has since posed in both Maxim and Playboy magazines. Sterger is also the "Sports Babe" for Sprint Exclusive Entertainment. Sterger was featured on the E!: Entertainment Television show Byte Me: 20 Hottest Women of the Web that originally aired in March 2008, where she was #19 on their list.
In 2009, Sterger had her breast implants removed, stating that they had served their purpose for her career, and that she was tired of being stereotyped.
Sterger has minor roles in two films scheduled to be released in 2010, The Tenant and Don't Fade Away.
Sports journalism
After contributing two articles to Sports Illustrated, Sterger, for some time, wrote a Wednesday feature on SI.com's "Scorecard Daily."
Sterger was a regular segment host on the recent ABC show Race to March Madness. The nationally televised weekly show highlighted the best teams in NCAA men's basketball and how the season was shaping up prior to the tournament. She hosted a weekly segment where she visited a top school's campus and interviewed players, coaches and fans of the respective teams. Her visits took her to Memphis, Tennessee, UNC, Duke, USC, UCLA and Indiana.
On March 4, 2010 it was announced that she would be competing directly with ESPN's 6pm ET SportsCenter by co-hosting a new show on Versus called The Daily Line, which debuted on April 5. Jenn said, "I always felt sports TV was a bunch of guys in suits yelling at me. Other shows don't exactly know how to use social media and the Web," says Sterger. "Since I'm practically living on the Web, I've got a pulse on what going on out there.....And I'll be personally accessible to the audience, except for my personal phone number." After seven months on the air, Versus cancelled The Daily Line as of November 4, 2010.
Allegations against Brett Favre
In October 2010, reports surfaced that NFL quarterback Brett Favre was alleged to have sent Sterger several suggestive text messages, voicemails and explicit photos of himself while he was the quarterback for the New York Jets and she was a sideline reporter for the Jets. He was later fined $50,000 for "failure to cooperate" with the investigation. The NFL stated that it "could not conclude" that Favre had violated the personal conduct policy, and that there was not sufficient evidence to establish if Favre had sent the photos.

Biography
Andrews was born in Lewiston, Maine to Stephen and Paula Andrews.[6] She moved to Tampa, Florida as a young girl when her father, a six-time Emmy Award-winner, began working as an investigative journalist for WFLA-TV. After attending Bloomingdale High School near Tampa, Andrews graduated in 2000 from the University of Florida with a degree in telecommunications. While there, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Andrews was also a member of the Dazzlers, the Gator basketball dance team, from 1997–2000. She also has a younger sister Kendra Andrews who is a professional dancer. Her sister appeared in the movie Step Up 3D.
Invasion of privacy incident
On July 16, 2009, a video posted on the site "NSFW POA" hinted that a naked blond woman videotaped through a hotel peephole was a popular sports personality. In the video, the woman was seen curling her hair unclothed in front of the mirror. The next day, Andrews authorized her attorney to issue a statement via PRN news writer verifying that she was the woman in the video, and that the video was made without her knowledge or consent. The video was removed from sites that had posted it and an investigation was launched. This incident was also heavily reported in the international media.
On September 11, 2009, Andrews appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in what Andrews called her "first and last interview" about the situation. Andrews described the situation as a "nightmare", and stated that at the time she discovered the video she believed her career would end.
On October 2, 2009, the FBI announced the arrest of a Chicago, Illinois area suspect. Michael David Barrett, a 47 year old divorced father,was charged with interstate stalking for taking the videos, posting the videos online and trying to sell them to celebrity Web site TMZ.com. FBI agents matched information in the e-mail to Barrett. On December 15, 2009, Barrett pleaded guilty to the interstate stalking charge. He was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison and ordered to register as a sex offender.
In July 2010, USA Today reported that Erin Andrews has sued Radisson, Marriott, and the alleged stalker.
Andrews is working with US Senator Amy Klobuchar to enact a new federal anti-stalking law.

In 2000, Andrews began work as a freelance reporter with FSN Florida. In 2001 she moved on to the Sunshine Network, serving as a Tampa Bay Lightning reporter, and in 2002 she served as a studio host and part-time reporter for Turner Sports, covering the Atlanta Braves and college football for TBS and the Atlanta Thrashers and Hawks for Turner South.
In May 2004, she became a reporter for ESPN's National Hockey League coverage. Since then, she has served as sideline reporter for their college football Saturday telecast as well as their Saturday Primetime and Big Ten college basketball coverage. In 2005, her job expanded to include Major League Baseball sideline reporting. She also reports on Great Outdoor Games, men's college baseball, and the College World Series.
On July 8, 2009, Andrews was struck on the chin by a foul ball hit by Alex Cora of the New York Mets. She was rushed to the hospital, but she only suffered bruises.
It was announced that starting in late 2010, Andrews will host ESPN's College Gameday from 9:00am to 10:00am on Saturdays on ESPNU and be a Good Morning America correspondent.
Dancing with the Stars
On March 1, 2010, it was announced that Andrews would be a celebrity contestant on Dancing with the Stars for its tenth season. The season premiered on Monday, March 22, 2010. Her partner was Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Andrews was one of three contestants to make it to the finals, where she placed third.
